Dr. Michaels grew up in Wyckoff, NJ and attended Ramapo High School in Franklin Lakes. She is a general pediatrician who is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She enjoys practicing medicine in the same neighborhood where she was raised.
Dr. Michaels received a bachelor’s degree in Biology from New York University and her medical degree from UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School. She stayed at the university to complete her residency training in pediatrics.
She was Chief Pediatric Resident at The Joseph M. Sanzari Children’s Hospital at Hackensack University Medical Center and The University Hospital in Newark, NJ.
After residency, she and her husband moved back to Wyckoff and she joined a large private group practice in Bergen County. She had her first child, and then began working in the Pediatric Emergency Department at Hackensack University Medical Center before opening Milestones Pediatrics. Dr. Michaels is pleased to offer a general pediatric practice where patient education and continuity of care are emphasized.
Dr. Yie-Hsien Chu is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics. She attended medical school at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, and then completed her pediatric residency at the Yale-New Haven Children’s Hospital. Following that, she joined a small practice in Colorado for four years.
After the birth of her first daughter, she moved back to the east coast and Bergen County where she resides with her two children.
She worked as an in-hospital pediatrician for several years at The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood prior to joining Milestones Pediatrics.
Dr. Chu was very excited to join Milestones Pediatrics and to return to her passion of primary care pediatrics. She looks forward to life-long relationships with the patients and their families.
Dr. Guruswamy is a Board Certified Pediatrician and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She received her medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine and completed her residency training at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. She spent several years practicing in Northern Virginia before recently deciding to move to New Jersey with her husband and son, to be closer to family.
She joined Milestones Pediatrics where she aspires to continue delivering family centered care and cultivating long term relationships with families. Her special interests are in preventive medicine.
Dr. Carmelina Tirri is a board certified pediatrician who received her medical degree from UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School and completed her residency training in pediatrics at University Hospital in Newark, NJ. After residency she joined a private group practice in Hackensack, NJ. She recently joined Milestones, where she hopes to continue to provide high-quality health care for children and make a positive difference in her patients’ lives.
Dr. Tirri was born in Passaic County, NJ and continues to live there with her husband and three children.
